Are ProtecSom anti-dust mite covers chemically treated?
anti-mites covers contain no acaricide treatment, whether chemical or natural. Their effectiveness relies solely on their filtration technology.

Why are anti-dust mite treated covers ineffective on the symptoms of dust mite allergy?
ProtecSom anti-dust mite covers undergo no chemical treatment, whether acaricidal or otherwise. In fact, using an acaricide does not provide direct and immediate relief from dust mite allergies. Even though anti-dust mite treatments eliminate dust mites, dust mite allergies are not caused by the mites themselves, but by a protein found in their dead bodies and droppings. Even after the mites die, these allergenic particles remain in the bedding. This is why dust mite-treated covers are not effective against the symptoms of dust mite allergies.
Are ProtecSom anti-dust mite covers coated in plastic?
No. ProtecSom was the first laboratory to introduce uncoated mothproof mattress covers to the French and Belgian markets anti-mites None of the ranges we offer are coated with polyurethane (plastic coating), which helps preserve your sleeping comfort. Plastic-coated covers can be noisy and lead to increased perspiration due to their high vapor resistance .

All our ranges of anti-mites have passed the vapor resistance test. Vapor resistance assesses how difficult it is for perspiration to pass through a fabric. A product that offers good breathability has low evaporative resistance, which should not exceed 5 m².Pa/W.

What dimensions should I choose?

Do I need to buy a new mattress before putting on my anti-dust mite cover?

Therefore, the condition of your bedding is irrelevant, and you won't need to invest in a new mattress. However, before installing the cover, thoroughly vacuum your mattress using a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA filter, ensuring the room is well-ventilated before, during, and after vacuuming. If possible, we recommend wearing an FFP2 mask during this process to minimize the inhalation of dust mite particles. Should I wash my cover before using it for the first time?
We recommend washing your cover before its first use. This will allow Noxaalon® covers to soften, and Texaal® covers to begin shrinking (shrinkage allowances are taken into account in the making of your cover).

Before installation, we recommend washing the cover in the washing machine. Ensure the room is well-ventilated before, during, and after installation. Wearing an FFP2 filter mask during installation will reduce the inhalation of dust mite particles.

Why have the openings in ProtecSom anti-dust mite covers been reduced?
anti-mites covers have been minimized to reduce the risk of allergen leakage. A cover with fewer openings is more effective against dust mites , as explained in our advice sheet " Why do our full anti-mites have smaller openings?" How often should I wash my anti-dust mite cover?
anti-mites mattress covers placed under a fitted sheet. However, anti-mites should be washed once a month. Be sure to wash your regular bed linens (fitted sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcase) once a week. These care instructions are included in the user manual included with your order.

My Texaal® Cotton cover is larger than what I ordered. Is this normal?
Yes, this is normal because cotton is a natural fiber that shrinks with each wash. The shrinkage rate of Texaal® Cotton after washing is known before manufacturing, which is why a margin of between 1% and 6.5% (depending on the fabric batch) is included in the cover's production. Your cover will reach its final size after several washes.
For Texaal® Cotton mattress covers, an extra safety margin is added to the length and width to facilitate installation and ensure effectiveness.

In the event of a manufacturing defect, you are automatically covered by the warranty. Texaal® covers are covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, while Noxaalon® covers are covered by a 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects. In this case, we will cover the shipping costs.
If the cover is repairable, it will be returned to you after being processed in our sewing workshops. This process usually takes 48 to 72 hours after we receive the package.
If the cover cannot be repaired, we will exchange it for a new one.
Please note that the warranty only covers manufacturing defects and does not apply to damage caused by misuse or improper maintenance conditions.
