ProtecSom embodies above all a beautiful family story, since it was born from the shared adventure between parents, Christine and Thierry and their threads , Alexis.
It was in 2003, in the Cotentin region, that our desire to improve the daily lives of people allergic to dust mites was born. Having experienced allergies in our own family, we observed the lack of solutions that were both effective and comfortable for combating this allergy, which affects millions of people worldwide.
Drawing on our past experience in the pharmaceutical industry and our familiarity with online sales tools, we realized we could contribute. So, we modestly began our business in a simple garden shed in the heart of our charming Normandy. It was there, within the walls of our small family workshop, that the vision of a company dedicated to improving the lives of allergy sufferers took shape. We also fondly recall our first packages prepared in the cramped attic of our shed, and our first tentative steps at specialized conferences, facing the giants of the pharmaceutical industry.
Since then, ProtecSom has come a long way. Our premises have evolved, and our team has grown. We are both proud of the progress we have made and aware that our journey is far from over. That's why we are now a team of around thirty working every day to create the devices of tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone's determination, we achieved our first goal in 2004: launching the first 100% cotton anti-dust mite covers, without polyurethane coating or chemical treatment, the Texaal® Cotton. A true revolution! It was finally possible to effectively protect oneself from dust mites while preserving sleeping comfort.
In 2007, we reached a new milestone by establishing our own manufacturing workshop in Valognes. From the outset, our goal was to produce our anti-dust mite covers in France, and more specifically here in Normandy, to ensure complete quality control. We were also committed to promoting local expertise and contributing to the regional economy.
In 2011, we met our third major challenge by obtaining ISO 13485:2016 certification, the international standard for medical devices. This certification guarantees that our processes meet the strictest standards in terms of safety, performance, and medical utility. This is essential for both patients who use our anti-dust mite covers and healthcare professionals who prescribe them. To our knowledge, we are the only manufacturer of anti-dust mite covers to hold this certification.
All these achievements are the result of a collective effort. We owe our capacity for innovation to our exceptional team, the support of healthcare professionals, our partners, the Normandy region, the Manche department, and of course, our patients, who have trusted us for over 20 years.
Looking ahead, our goals remain clear: we are committed to continuing to develop innovative solutions to improve the quality of life for people with allergies. With an alarming WHO estimate that half the world's population will be affected by allergies by 2050, we pledge to remain at the forefront by offering high-quality products where comfort and health go hand in hand.
